The problems with dictators when it comes to war is that they usual have no knowledge about how wars are fought. They take crazy decisions and their troops have to suffer for it. When the commanders fail or their soldiers fail then they put the blame on them and let them die or shot them. Hitler and Stalin a prime examples of this. Maybe the German war machine could have been stopped earlier if Stalin didnt kill most of his senior officers during the 1930s? Maybe the war would have been shorter if he didnt turn a blind eye to the German troops massing at the borders? And maybe the Germans would have been able to fight longer if Hitler let them retreat when necessary? A retreat isnt defeat as Hitler seem to have thought. Staying and losing all the troops is...
