German Government; reproduced in Purnell\'s History of the Second World War.
German propaganda leaflet dropped on Allied troops stuck in the Anzio beachhead, the stalled Allied effort to outflank the Germans' Gothic Line by means of a seaborne landing. While the Anzio landings did not exactly succeed in their objective, the Anzio incursion was regarded by Field Marshal Kesselring as sufficiently threatening to divert a number of his most impressive units to contain it. To that extent, it did contribute to the eventual collapse of the German position in central Italy. Best regards, JR.
