British troops of the 1st Worcestershire Regiment, 43rd (Wessex) Infantry Division, crossing the Seine river at the town of Vernon, France, west of Caen, late August, 1944. - Due to the enormous success of Operation Overlord, many of the troops had to move on foot, as transport vehicles were in dire need of repair.
