On the 11th november 1939, the french pilots of the famous fight of "the 9 against the 27" are waiting to be decorated by général Vuillemin.
The fight took place on the 5 of november: a squadron of 9 frenchmen flying on curtiss H75 was attacked by 27 german Bf 109D of the JGR 102. The french lost 2 planes (damaged) while scoring 5 confirmed victories (Aspirant Lefol, sergent Legrand, sergent Salès) and 5 probable victories (Aspirant Lefol, adjudant Dugoujon, sergent-chef de Montgolfier, sergent-chef Trémolet, sergent Bouhy).
