"Young soldier, old combatant" states the caption to this photo published in Signal and showing a Panzertruppen NCO. A veteran of the Spanish Civil War, this man is wearing in addition to his Iron Cross 1st Class, the wounded badge and the panzer assault insignia; the Spanish cross and two Spanish decorations of which we can see the ribbons (the Medalla de la campana and the Cruz del merito militar con distinvo rojo) (Signal, 1st issue of October 1942, PK/A.Grimm).
