Karl-Gustav Sauberzweig, Brigadefuhrer und Generalmajor der Waffen-SS (later Gruppenfuhrer und Generalleutnant), with officers of the 13th Mountain Division of the SS, "Handschar" (1st Croatian), probably in Bosnia, 1943. Sauberzweig, a Prussian-born WW1 veteran who transferred from the Heer to the Waffen-SS in 1943, and back to the Heer in 1945, is best known for his effective leadership of Bosnian Muslim troops during his SS period. He committed suicide as a PoW in 1946 to avoid extradition to Yugoslavia - effectively a death sentence. Best regards, JR.
