Demchugdongrub

Prince Demchugdongrub (left in the picture) set up the regime of Mengjiang, which collaborated with Japan to create a Pan-Mongolian state. Troops of Mengjiang fought with their Japanese allies in the beginning of the war, to enlarge the own territory, and later in 1945 when the Soviets destroyed the Kwantung Army. The Mengjiang army was largely composed of irregulars and former bandits with low morale and bad equipment (in the beginning not even half of the men had rifles), and no tanks or planes were available. Some very few artillery pieces and anti-air guns were captured or given by the Japanese (and also then only Chinese artillery pieces). -------------------- Evillittlekenny
