Very nice example recently offered for sale, one of a batch of three, I understand.  This definitely seems to be a helmet used by the Civil Defence after Army use; while it has been stripped reasonably well, traces of the white Civil Defence paint-job are visible.  The Irish Army badge at the centre-front of the helmet is, I understand, a reproduction.  Again, it would often (though not always) have been the case that these badges would have been removed when a helmet was issued to the Civil Defence; there are cases in which they were simply painted over.
